i am trying to transfer my database to ASM, but each time i try to do it with DBCA it gives me ORA-29701 Cluster manager not running, i have tried almost every thing especially
localconfig add,delete,reset all of them
but nothing seem to work
Checking the status of new Oracle init process...
Expecting the CRS daemons to be up within 600 seconds.
Giving up: Oracle CSS stack appears NOT to be running.
Oracle CSS service would not start as installed
Automatic Storage Management(ASM) cannot be used until Oracle CSS service is started
please help

i never got back to him, in the last post i thought he was a sapmmer, but i have literally searched all over google every thing but found no answer, this thing has given me headache since mar, so if u can please help

This thread must have been answered by now. But as an FYI, mjshank is not a spammer. That is, I seldom post or send orafaq related email. Sorry to say, did not get back to this particular thread for almost a year.
Actually, I was getting so much email from OraFAQ and OracleSearch, that I started to block the emails. I will enable OraFAQ in case anyone replies again on this thread.
